Introducing our Young Judge ...
Only one month to go before the Times/Chicken House Children's Fiction Competition longlist announcement, and while our team are feverishly reading through our biggest EVER number of submissions, we have some very exciting news …
We have a Young Judge – hurray!
It certainly wasn’t easy to decide on a winner: this year’s batch of entries was full of passionate, articulate and thoughtful pitches for all kinds of novels. It was really inspiring to watch. But eventually, we whittled down our list to the top five, and then – after a lot of agonising – we selected our favourite submission. And the winner is … (drumroll please) …
Lewis’s video is all about his favourite series, Alex Scarrow’s TimeRiders. He obviously loves books just as much as we do, and ultimately, it was his uber-enthusiasm that won him our top prize. As the Young Judge, Lewis will join our prestigious panel in reading and assessing the five shortlisted manuscripts. We can’t wait to hear what he thinks … Congratulations, Lewis!

Terrific news. I hope you enjoy reading my book as much as I enjoyed writing it Lewis. It is great to see young readers rewarded and supported - showing that society appreciates the literary arts and achievements as much as it does sporting achievements is so very important.
