Presenting our shortlist!
It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for: the shortlist announcement!
Our longlist this year was outstanding and it’s been a genuinely difficult task to pick the final five … so difficult, in fact, that we’ve ended up with a final six. What can we say? You’re all far too talented!
Without further ado, here are the six brilliant novels vying for our TWO special tenth-anniversary prizes …
Children of the Quicksands by Efua Traoré
My Dad the Earth Warrior by Gary Haq
The Silence and the Word by Christopher Hill
The Snow Globe by Jennifer Nelson
Something Fishy by Richard Pickard
Wishyouwas by Alexandra Page
Huge congratulations to all our shortlistees!
The competition is more international than ever, with half of the shortlist based outside the UK. These stories range in age from 7 right up to YA – and they vary in genre from contemporary to high fantasy, from magical realism to young comedy. How on earth will our panel of judges pick the winners? We don’t envy them the task!
Keep an eye out for more info on our shortlistees in the coming weeks, and for the announcement of the winners in early September …
